The guildmaster for LOTD posted a massive flame of Gaile Grey soon after release, I'm not sure what forum it was on, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't on just about all of them. It might have gotten locked, as most of these forums are EXTREEMLY carebare oriented, but there's a decent chance the search button will turn it up somewhere. It's pretty badly written, with the profanity taking up around 80% of the total word count, but it's also entertaining. And it's vastly better informed than you are sir.

its on the LotD site written by Hades. It may be old and inflammotory but most of the stuff in it is still accurate.

Some iQ members have said something about the need for more PvP maps. Personally I'd rather they fix up what they have now instead of adding new maps, but the PvP game needs some life and almost anything is worth a shot now.

A lot of the stuff mentioned on the first post is something ArenaNet is already aware of.... but its the thought that counts. Plus I do believe they have acknowledged that they know some of these problems in a few fansite fridays plus are looking for a solution that won't completely change the game.

I'm sure if Gaile were here she'd be happy you suggested some solutions rather than just saying the problem.

Some of it though just goes against the game's philosophy itself... for example only being allowed 8 skills during a mission.

I'll be the first to admit that playing computer games is not the best use of my time. It's also not something my friends, my peers, understand at all. They put it down to the inner computer nerd in me, and I suspect most of them think it's more than a little strange.

They also think I'm nuts for spending my vacation hiking in Mt. Ranier Nat. Park, all by myself, because I enjoy the solitude. Going out solo to live with the bugs is NOT what very many of my friends consider a vacation, but there you go.

I'm also a veteran, a gun owner, a former motorcycle racer (semi-pro), and a bleading heart liberal. I do some painting, and am soon getting into metal sculpture.

My point is this: We are allowed to have different interests in life. It really is a free country. Ordering me to grow up because I don't care to bow to your ideas of what I should be doing sort of makes me wonder just how long this is going to remain a free country.

Anyone with half a brain should have been able to pick up on a bit of sarcasm in my original post. The truth is that I generaly don't enjoy hanging out with teenagers. Most of them are insipid, insulting, and so damned positive they know everything it's just not worth even trying to set them straight. If you tried to tell a virgin he's wrong about sex, he would probably argue with you saying "his friend Timmy said..." as if virgin Timmy were some sort of authority.

In a very few instances I have actualy had decent conversations with players who were obviously a lot younger than myself. But even then it becomes uncomfortable shortly. It just feels a bit creepy. I don't know how to explain it better than to say you'll understand when you're older. There ARE fundamental differences, and for all the pretense that you're all grown up it simply isn't true.

Diablo the perfect game? Hardly. If I had to pick a "perfect" game, I couldn't, as someone else stated it doesn't exist. If I were to pick my 10 favorite games, they would all have been made in the 80's, the golden age of comp games. Back before the clones, back when every month there was at least 2 or 3 new games that did something nobody else had ever thought of, before the entire industry got a bad case of sequalitis, games were not really great. But at least they tried, and they did amazing things on 2 megabytes and 8 Mhz.

I remember my teamate coming into work with the newest rpg, holding up 2 5.25 floppies (there were 360k floppies), and saying: "No game should ever take up more than 1 floppy".

I would never, ever try to claim the Diablo is anywhere near perfect. What I was trying to point out is this: Blizzard is making a greater effort, and actualy doing more, to adress the needs (not necessarily wants) of their community in a 5 year old game that hasn't made them any money in years, than Anet is with GW RIGHT NOW. And the player base reflects that fact. Blizzard obviously cares more about their customers.

My primary complaint about GW is that for reasons I am at a total loss to explain, the devs have allowed a tiny portion of the player base to dictate the entire direction the game has taken. Even when they throw the PvP community a bone (faction anyone?) their primary focus is obviously not doing anything to offend the carebears. Everything, form the changes at release to every single patch that has followed, has clearly been with the carebears as the primary focus, in many cases the only focus. Christ, when the anounced faction the felt the need to throw in an anouncement of future PvE content lest the carebears take offense at not being the center of attention. I have never seen a dev team show such contempt for its general player base.

This game had, I say HAD, a fantastic premise. The first fantasy shooter, as it were. A shooter for the rest of us, the ones who aren't pimply faced, who drink things aimed at slowing down rather than whatever the latest energy drink is (I'm told it's balls?), who don't have a mouse surgicaly implanted. This was going to be a shooter that actualy required some strategy, some thought, and wasn't just another twitch fest. I was a Navy corpsman, attached to Marine field units. A medic. I served under Reagan and Bush (the less dumb one). You'd think I might enjoy a game that allowed me to "relive the glory days". But GTA has more to do with the real life racing I did than any shooter has to do with the real life combat training I had. This game, GW, was supposed to be better. Why is it so hard for you carebears to deal with the fact that some of us might not be so happy with them turning it into WoW light? I understand you're happy with the changes, they were done for you. Why can't you even understand that your changes have also ruined the game. I say again, if everything is roses, where is everyone? Why aren't they playing? The idea that "they'll come back from time to time when new content comes out" is a pretty pathetic business model, and seems an unlikely one as well.

One final comment. I take great exception to the many people who claim this game is "free", or "essentialy free" simply because it doesn't charge a monthly fee. Comp games have been around longer than most of you have been alive, and monthly fees have been around for the last couple of years. For well over 90% of the industries existance, you bought it, and that was it.

I paid for this game. If it had been free, as in shareware or freeware, I would have nothing to complain about. There are lots of older games that you can find free, that have no support today, whose makers may not even be in business anymore. You may or may not be able to get those games running on your new comp, which is several times faster than the ones it was intended to run on, and which often leads to some serious headaches.

In those cases, the game actualy is free, and there is nothing to complain about. By the way, in SOME of those cases, the devs still will provide some help if you email them, and often will do a better job of giving their players what they need than Anet is doing here and now. When it really is free, it's buyer beware.

STOP CALLING THIS GAME FREE!

Top ten issues? There are a couple but i'm not going to complain about what's not going to get fixed. My main issue with this game is probably the same as everyone elses, i beat the game. What to do now? I'll do some GvG & HoH. It all gets boring after a while, i just don't know what to do anymore. Today i stood in Lion's Arch for an hour correcting someone's misspelling of "Ectoplasm" out of boredom. I mean yeah, i love my guild and HoH can be fun sometimes, but after the game is done all there is to do is GvG and HoH. I'm also still waiting impatiently for the "Summer Update". Today is August 14th, as far as i know summer is almost over, where's my content Anet?

Simply put, i'm bored. I have nothing more to do in this game.

I not only think your choice of a top 10 is flawed, but completely disagree with several of them. 1 million skills, but you can only use 8 is there for a reason. The game was supposed to be real-time Magic - that card game. Not "lets collect 150 skills and then click through my skill list as fast as I can making myself invincible".

My reply to #7: Respeccing in HoH.

That's why you only get 8.

Right now, you can spec your party to use 6 or 7 skills, and 1 or 2 holding skills, win HoH once, everyone respecs to hold builds, which focuses heavily on healing, energy management, and damage shutdown, and keep it for an eternity.

10 skill cap would mean you can accomplish this trick MUCH easier.

My top ten are

1. Not that much character to places. (think ToFS or even the low level Estates on the third floor) They're all outside deserts and I've absolutely been to every spot on the map with at least one of my characters.

2. Lack of top end PvE content, UW/FoW if you have favor aren't enough.

3. PvP unlocking skills (don't want an argument, it's on my list, not yours)

4. PvP lack of variety

5. No 3-D, not sure if they could fix this but It's almost game ruining for me to see where I want to go and not be able to because there's a pile of different colored sand or a 6 inch high ice berm. This is a time sink and a cop-out on real area.

6. NR (once again, my list not yours) Pure and simple this takes what I consider to be already limited build possibilities and cuts them in half.

7. Quests which were a strong point in my opinion in the low levels are turned into jokes to be done. The Ashes quest is the last quality one in the game in my opinion. The rest only have a story if you make up the second half. Most people don't even try to do that.

8. Skill points are pure grind for PvE. I don't mind the grind at all for armor or money for dye because that's a choice but gaining skill points is boring with a max character in PvE. I'm not saying it's hard or impossible, just boring.

9. Monsters are easy, very easy. UW and FoW maybe should be the same but add at least one difficult area for people that want to stretch.

10. They should add a faction trader in the arena's. I understand they're trying to shift the grind but come on already. That is just stupid in the extreme and because most people have at least one PvE they won't complain. It's a manipulative method of keeping the grind and quieting the majority.

Well what can I say. I agree with everything the author has stated. The problem with GW is because of its lack of those little details the gameplay feels VERY simplistic and well, a grind after you go through the game once.

I think putting SO much value on the monk class is ridiculous. Most groups in later mission need at least 2 monks which are nowhere to be found.

My thoughts are that after playing through this game twice.....well i feel BORED. There absolutely nothing else to do. Everything is a complete repeat and there's not enough land to explore nor a point to that. PvP is non-existant.

I would like to know what portion of the player base truly is PvE oriented and PvP oriented. Sayshina, do you have a reliable source to make such a statement? I can respect your opinion. And because it's subjective (i.e. you've expressed your honest feelings), I'm in no position to argue otherwise.

All I can say is that I love PvE and would love to see it better. On the flip side, I can't wait to finish my first character and see what PvP offers, because I too, am yearning for great battles. For the true PvPers, I hope you get what you want, because it will be good for people like me as well. But to say that PvE is ruining the game (paraphrased), is rather a bold statement to be making. I'll leave it at that.

I think there should be a word filter on here for "How To Fix" "Fix" and "OMGROFL BBQ"

That way, all of the multiple threads about the same useless whine can be kept tidy, and the voices that have serious input could be heard over the screaming masses of apparent malcontented persons, who feel the need to tell anet how to do their job in a manner akin to 9 year olds wondering where babies come from.

Enough already!

I'm suprised only one person mentioned the small amount of storage. At least I think it's too small. MY storage is nearly filled with crafting materials (ingots, etc.) I have very little room to store weapons or other items. I'm not saying double the storage space, but I would like a little more room.

Just wanted to say the trading system is PERFECT. your nuts to think otherwise. The trading community sucks. Thats for us to fix. I dont think we should waste time of the devs fixing what we could as easily fix. Restrict trading to certain spots,have people fan out more. Its common sense.

Also the pet thing,it'd be hard to do...you'd need to have a window with a list of monsters of a sort..or have them keyed to the Target. May not seem like much...but it'd take a lot of work.

The beautiful scenes they paint....are beautiful because they are setup that way. Once you immerse yourself in it,its lost and you no longer get that feeling. Keep it as is.

Biggest issues imo:

1. No pvp. Thanks for the grind, nobody's friends can get together and all have more than 500 hours to invest just to pick up and play together when they are done with that. What a disregard for the whole community to have added the unlock grind and basically dumped the value of pvp from the game.

2. Anet's holier than thou attitude. They are oozing with it these days, telling off their community constantly about how we should trust them and that we are ignorant. Well, that's not the way to actually earn most people's trust. In fact it's liable to do the opposite.

3. PVE has awful replayability. Most missions are way too easy, most explorables way too boring. And then the kicker, sucky drops.

4. Putting the expansion out before people feel the first one delivered on it's promises. This will happen, it makes sense that most all of their resources are already working on the expansion. $$$
